  1. Technical Launch For 114.5-meter Project 'Cosmos'
The latest superyacht from the sheds of Lurssen has slipped to the water for its technical launch. It is the 114.5-meter Project 'Cosmos' which has its explorer exterior lines drawn by Marc Newson. The interior is also the work of Newson and we have seen their work before with the now well-known "Solaris". 13759 was the build number for this new vessel thus far and now that she is technically launched she will continue construction and outfitting until she emerges again in either 2024 or 2025.
  2. True to the yard's confidential ethos, this particular vessel, Lurssen has kept under tight wraps. The photos from the technical launch suggest that this new large build will be going to a well-known Japanese owner who has had many exploits in space, which is not surprising given the project name 'Cosmos'. Not only is the design of this vessel quite different from what we normally see it will also feature power - in part- from a source not typically found on superyachts. Lurssen a few years ago made mention of fuel-cell technology which was being developed for a future yacht that they were building. This is the vessel in which the new technology is being utilized. Top speed should be close to 20-knots.
  3. On the interior - also done by Marc Newson - with a capacity represented in the region of 6300 GT will be satisfyingly voluminous. Up to 18 guests should be adequately accommodated and with an LOA of 114.5-meters and a beam of 18-meters there is expansive and excessive volume on offer. While Lurssen has not divulged any information on interior facets there is likely a multi-level atrium, glass observation lounge, sizable pool and provision for a helipad on the foredeck. Construction on Project 'Cosmos' began in 2020 and this is the first time she has been seen since then by the public. Photos by Yusaku Maezawa IG.
