In the midst of towering, insanely voluminous and lengthy superyachts there is still a place for intimate 'go-anywhere' cruising trawlers. Kadey Krogen is one of those builders of these types of yachts and their latest addition to their lineup and first in the Open series is the Krogen 50 Open. If you were in attendance at the Miami International Boat Show in mid-February, Kadey Krogen debuted the model there. Onboard the yacht is spacious for a 50-footer and owners can choose from two layouts below decks.

The Krogen 50 Open will either have the standard mid-ship master floorplan or an optional master-forward design should you choose that. In the stand-up engine room (seven feet of clearance in the front and six and a half in the rear) you can choose the Tier III John Deere® #6068AFM85, 230 bhp, as the standard power. Alternatively, two Tier III John Deere® 4045TFM85, 125 bhp, are available as an option. The range on this 50 Open is around 5,000 nautical miles (at 6-knots) if you have time to spare. A little faster at 9-knots the consumption goes up and the range drops to about 1,200 nautical miles. 1,240 GAL of fuel can be stored onboard.
