  1. 2023 Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show

The 2023 edition of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) is underway running from the 25th to the 29th of October. Twenty years ago we began doing live coverage of FLIBS; walking the docks by day, uploading news by night. As the Internet and the 24-hour news cycle evolved, our daily coverage of the yachting industry became a worldwide digital boat show. Today, our daily attendance exceeds FLIBS, Monaco or Cannes. There is no parking fee, no entrance fee and your feet will never tire from walking our docks. We make no apologies if your index finger tires from scrolling!
  2. To kick things off, Oceanco has released something called "Simply Custom" which is a series of designs all around 80-meters designed to give clients a broader pool of designs to choose from potentially. The yard partnered with 17 designers from around the world to design their variations of yacht designs on a 80-meter naval technical platform developed by Lateral Naval Architects. The designs can still be tweaked by an owner as well giving them significant customization and flexibility. The aim is to help streamline the commissioning process. Here is a look at the Aeolus design which was actually designed before the "Simply Custom" platform.
  3. Tankoa has unveiled a new design at the 2023 FLIBS. It calls for a 63-meter platform known for now as Project 'Stardust'. The name stardust likely comes from the Giuseppina Arena interior which is described to have a celestial-based theming. The exterior lines on the other hand is the work of the Abbasli Design Studio. The guest cabins are located on the main deck along with the VIP. The master suite is situated on the upper deck. Special features include a foredeck touch-and-go helipad, foredeck pool, aft pool just off the swim platform, aft lower deck wellness/beach club area. Surrounding the mast there is a hideaway area where guests can enjoy the highest passenger point on the vessel either while underway or even at anchor.
  4. Sunreef Yachts is presenting the 80 Sunreef Power Eco "Sól" and Sunreef 80 "Seaclusion"; aluminum-based catamarans using photovoltaics to augment onboard energy demands. The flybridge hardtop is covered in solar panels in addition to the sides of the hull resulting in a unique artistic look that might raise eyebrows with purists but could become more widely accepted given the utilitarian aspects of this abstract art?
  5. Besides the larger yachts at the show there are a multitude of much smaller and comparatively affordable yachts for discerning clients. Benetti has an example of the Benetti Oasis 34M at the show. Below is an image of the Oasis 34 model for those who are maybe new to the brand. Designed on the exterior by British studio RWD and having an interior penned by Bonetti/Kozerski, the Oasis 34 and its sisters present a different approach to experiential living. The major changes all took place on the aft end of the Oasis line-up, an area Benetti coined "Oasis Deck". The area features a pool, fold-down bulwarks for expansion of space and vista-improvement, seating and easy connections to the cockpit and saloon areas. The first Benetti Oasis 34 hit the water in 2022 and was called "Seaesta".
