  1. "Lena" Under Construction At Burger Boat
Burger Boat has been building yachts for a long time now and currently are in the midst of building the largest vessel model they have under taken, the Burger Boat 180 which the industry is hoping to see soon. However, in between the yard has worked on a couple other projects that are not exclusively yacht like. One of these is "Lena" which is being built as a passenger vessel. At just 89-feet or 27-meters she is smaller than many of the yachts Burger Boat has built over the years but is designed to carry as many as 340 guests.
  2. Lena would not be the first of this kind that Burger Boat built. In fact back in 2015, the yard built a sister vessel called "Lucia". It is typically customary to build metal yachts either in all-aluminium or with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. Lena is being built in all-steel construction.
  3. The passenger vessel is being built at Burger's shipyard in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. She is to be run by a pair of Volvo Penta D13 main engines and have dual Kohler generators onboard. The Naval Architecture work has been by TGMD, Inc. and Seacraft Design, LLC. The classification is USCG 46 CFR, Subchapter K.
  4. The immediate dimensions of the vessel are a length of 89'.09-feet, a beam of 30-feet and a full load draft of 5.06-feet. Lena is meant to be operating in the Chicago area with Wendella Boat Tours. The vessel will have climate-controlled interior as well as open-air upper deck space for guests to best take in the views of Chicago by water. The vessel will add to the the existing fleet.
