  1. Down East Style; Back Cove 41
Back Cove Yachts is a company that has been sticking to its heritage and bringing you Down East styled boats made right in Maine by some of the finest crafts and trades people in the business. They make a handful of models so attention to detail and quality is part of their core aims. With Back Cove you will find models ranging from Back Cove 340 up to the Back Cove 41. In between them you will find the Back Cove 372 and 390. This feature will be focusing on the largest in the range the Back Cove 41.
  2. Don't be fooled by the model name, the vessel is actually 46.6-feet long in reality. The flagship of the Back Cove fleet, the Back Cove 41 is fitted with an efficient single diesel engine and straight shaft. The yacht will carry 1,514 LT of fuel and 600 LT of fresh water along with 206 LT in the holding tank. A Cummins QSC8.3 600 mhp electronic controlled engine w/ ZF gear is coupled to a four-bladed prop. According to the builder it appears you will have a couple of power options. Cummins QSM-11 (715-mHp) or Volvo D11 (725-mHp) appear to be optional power for the Back Cove 41. Regardless of which plant is chosen, spritely performance will always be the result.
  3. Her interior is crafted as one would expect with a builder from this region and it is balanced between two luxurious staterooms, each with a private head. Nautically sensible details and Maine craftsmanship can be found throughout her American Cherry interior. Below is an example of the forward V-berth cabin which is well-appointed, spacious and finished with an understated luxury appeal. There is drawer storage all around, easy step-up to the centerline bed, overhead hatch to allow natural air in while at anchor.
  4. Two bathrooms are onboard to service the two guest cabins. One is a bit larger than the other but both are well finished with trim-work detailing standing out. Modern touches like the faucets, vessel sinks and countertops provide a home-filled atmosphere. The two heads are accessible from the cabins as well which is always a nice touch on vessels in this size bracket.
  5. The main deck salon/galley area is again well-appointed and a very cozy blending of entertainment and practical space. To the starboard side there is a small galley where meals can easily be prepped and cooked. Across from here is the dinette/salon settee. Just look at the Cherry work on the soles and cabinetry! The white caulking does add a classic touch. With the door open and wind down this area flows straight out into the aft cockpit.
  6. Symmetry reigns in the aft cockpit where built-in benches on either side of the transom invite you to relax and enjoy the surroundings in open-air. There is an additional seat over on the starboard side. Straight back a centerline gate leads you to the swim platform where you can let you feet in the water or simply dive right in!
  7. The helm position is located on the starboard side up front with good views over the bow and with an opening side door, one can easily look outside for a better line of sight while maneuvering. An old-school circular wheel adds to the classic nautical feel Back Cove follows. There is nothing old school about the very modern large screen displays that permit a wide swath of data and information. Everything is at you fingertips here.
  8. A run through of her basic statistics include a length overall of 46.6-feet with a beam measuring 14-feet and a draft of just 3.9-feet. The air draft of the Back Cove 41 from waterline to mast is 13.3-feet. Designed to ABYC, NMMA, USCG and CE Category B standards. This vessel can easily be used as a dayboat, weekender or even on extended cruises. To facilitate this, long range cruisers will appreciate the dual stainless steel refrigerator drawers, freezer mounted below the helm seat, ceramic cooktop, and convection microwave for easy modern-day conveniences.
