If you haven't been, I highly recommend a visit - a beautiful and quaint island with super friendlies. And now an added bonus: http://ntv.ca/massive-iceberg-in-triton-draws-hundreds-of-spectators/
We will be in Newfoundland in August for 18 days. Tried to rent a car but all car rentals are booked fromJune 1/22 to end of September so had to rent a car in Halifax and take Ferry Boat over.
Labrador is the only province I have missed. Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and PEI are my favorites. But British Columbia is also a must-see. We're fortunate to have such a beautiful neighbor to our north. I have not experienced iceberg watching...yet.
Every once in a while, I'll put ice in my drink. That is my iceberg watching. Anything larger needs to be far away, like Newfoundland..
There is nothing nicer than 10,000 yr old ice in your gin at 10.am in Alaska drifting through an ice field.
I always wondered how pure glacier and berg ice is. They ( glaciers and bergs) were collecting dust from asteroid collisions. Collecting dust from dinosaurs farts. Collecting dust from thousands of volcanoes. Collecting dust from every nuclear explosion (bombs and test bombs) around the world. Collecting dust from every fried nuclear power plant melt down. Collecting dust from every air plane that flies. Collecting dust from every cow fart. I could go on.... So, how is it that glacier and berg ice is so pure??? I recall the sposed silentest can measure the age of the ice by measuring some carbon traces. I don't think they mention how much or where from. I usually don't ice my drinks, just every once in a while,,, from my well filtered ice machine.
