  1. Fitzroy launches 37.5-meter sailing yacht "Escapade"

The time has come for project FY17 to leave the build shed of New Zealand builder Fitzroy Yachts. It would have been a bittersweet moment for them and the workers involved because not only has FY17 transformed from an idea to reality but she is also the last yacht that will come from the yards of Fitzroy. FY17, now christened as "Escapade", is the last yacht launched by Fitzroy before they close their doors. Enough orders have not been coming through for this New Zealand builder as a result of the financial crisis. She is, like so many others, a design of Dubois Naval Architects and they commented, "...With great sadness [the] launch of 37m SY Escapade will be the ninth and last Dubois design to come from this talented shipyard."
  2. Escapade is Lloyd’s registered and MCA compliant and boasts an interior design by Design Unlimited. She is expected to be able to fulfill accommodation for eight guests in her four cabins. Escapade was ordered back in April 2012 by Swiss businessman Christophe Albin, who came to Fitzroy Yachts after two years of research. The yacht's construction is in all-aluminum and features a sloop-rigged design. Below the waterline there is a fixed keel which will give her the best of both worlds, performance and shallower water cruising.
