  1. Oyster Marine introduces the 885 model

For a while now, we have been hearing about Oyster Marine's new 885 model. She is well underway at the RMK shipyard in Turkey and should be ready by 2012. The vessel has been designed by Rob Humphreys and is being optimized either for private or charter use.

"The exciting new Oyster 885 has been designed by Rob Humphreys as the perfect solution for those who would like to share the unmatched pleasure of cruising aboard one of these magnificent Oyster yachts - with the potential to recover some of the investment involved by chartering. Designed to give the maximum length and specification possible without exceeding the MCA 24-metre rule, the Oyster 885 will provide an efficient and cost effective yacht for charter use, whilst detracting nothing from the appeal of private ownership."

On board, the design has been developed to take advantage of the space available. One of the areas that is tasked with this is the accommodation. The master is described as being spacious with all of the amenities and comforts expected on any large luxury yacht. According to Oyster, the master is one of the cabins but for the guests there are three well appointed cabins for them, similarly with all the creature comforts expected.

"In addition to the luxurious owner’s stateroom, which features glazed panels across the upper section of the aft bulkhead, bringing in an abundance of light and enhancing the spatial qualities of the cabin, there are three very comfortable en-suite guest cabins, one of which can be configured as a study or lower saloon area, all blending seamlessly and stylishly together to provide a real home from home."

The saloon is aided by the the entry of light though the split-level doors and semi wrap-around windows. This creates a spacious feel to an already relatively spacious room. Back on the outside, aft, the cockpit is decked out with soft and hard seating at various positions. Al fresco dining can be had just forward of the helm stations while room for lounging and relaxation while at anchor or slow and motoring passage. More on this vessel as she grows closer to delivery.
