The new high bridge at Topsail, NC mm 261 (Surf City) has opened 7 months ahead of schedule!
Built to replace the old swing bridge built in 1954, te new bridge is about 3800' long, 65' high at center span, 120' width channel, and 53' wide platform for traffic and pedestrians.

This is great news for ICW cruisers! The old bridge was on an hourly schedule and was getting pretty unreliable.

Just in time for the north bound season. Good cruising to all you folks heading up.

Thank the Lord. I got stuck waiting for what seemed like an eternity for that old swing bridge to open.

Not as bad as floating bridge that would get stuck in the much at low tide... forgot it’s name.

Sunset Beach pontoon bridge, just north of Little River Inlet, mm 337. That was replaced in 2011.
