Member Rewards Winners – August August is the final month of the “official” Member’s Rewards program. I believe we were successful in maintaining momentum over the summer of 2006, a time when most people log-off and go boating. We might repeat the program at a later date, but now… it’s time to get ready for some boat shows. I think it’s important to note that our winners from June & July are still actively posting with the same level of commitment as previous months. Clearly, nobody is in this for novelties. These are people that make our community, and our industry, a better place. On that note, there are quite a few people that add value to YF, so we’re going to continue distributing apparel to 3 winners each month… until we run out of inventory (around the end of the year). The final winners for the summer of 2006 are… ORION – Kurt’s been with us since the beginning and he’s continuously posted interesting concepts, links or images. This month, he debuted his new Hampton 60 project and allowed forum members to participate in the design. Kurt’s designs are retro AND cutting edge, with each one more compelling then the next. We’re proud that YF is attracting the talents of people like Kurt. GARRY HARTSORN – Garry’s been with us quite awhile, but as a working captain, he can’t always find Internet access! He’s hard wired this month and took full advantage of his connection to get busy on YF. Garry’s real passion is horses, but being a true professional, he spends his free time on YF. Thanks Garry! KCOOK – When Kelly was informed of winning this month, he was (in his words)… “stupefied”, because he expected members with more knowledge about yachts to be rewarded. While knowledge is important, so is interest and enthusiasm. Kelly works pretty hard around here, keeping the momentum going, finding answers for new members and… something nobody has noticed… Kelly is active on a variety of boating forums and has linked YF to relevant topics & inquires. Thank you Kelly! CAPTTOM – When informed he was a winner this month, Tom commented… “I have participated in a number of forums, but YachtForums has a different caliber of people, which means more value to posts and responses”. Tom’s statement is a vital part of YF’s growth and (hopefully) success. More importantly, with the right people onboard… it gives us a voice that can make a difference, which could also help bring about change. YACHTMATI – Will has provided us with extensive coverage of yachts in Greece, but he doesn’t use YF as a platform to promote his images… he does this simply for the viewing pleasure of members. William’s website is www.yachtmati.com and I encourage people in the industry to contact him for images or for coverage in his region. Congrats to our August winners! If you have not already informed me, we need shipping addresses, shirt sizes and 3 builders in order of preference from each of our winners, Also, be advised… the packaging of the cameras might have some black “CSI” dust on them. Sorry!!!
The enthusiasm is definitely there...and that is the main thing that will keep this forum ticking over....also the dedication of the 'older' posters...keep the ball rolling...so keep it going guys..and the added bonus of a 24/7 service mart rather than that of other 'marts' that shut shop on weekends for unknown reasons.
Thanks. It was a nice surprise when I received the note from Carl. And with what he's been through, he still put the Forum and its members up high on his priority list. Yachtluver, I think I've seen you on the "other" forum, the one that shuts down on weekends (which is when many folks have time to participate). Don't forget, their forte is putting out a magazine (a good one at that), not managing a forum, although they don't do a bad job at it, it's just not as good as this one. Capt Tom
Yes Tom, i'm on the other 'service mart' but that doesnt mean i can't like my 24/7 service mart too....Your point about weekends is when people have the time to post and participate is valid..because most of you all work...me? i'm in university...and have access to pc's almost anytime...so i think 24/7 'service marts' benefit everyone involved.
Congrats to you August winners---lots of interesting posts. I am envious of those of you who have the time to dabble with 'other' forums. Quality and dedicated people keep me here in YF.
Carl, I received your Member Rewards package today. Woo-hoo! Nice goodies and not too much crime dust on the camera. Hey, that's a nifty camera, small enough to fit in a pocket. I'll have to sport around FLIBS in the Hatteras shirt and hat. But my wife wants to know who Hargrave is??!! That girl needs an education onthe yachting biz (she just likes to ride along and look good regardless of the name on the side). Thanks for everything. Capt Tom
Capt Tom: Just walk past the Hargrave display during the FLIBS and when Mike Joyce or his wife Jan spots you, you will indeed be enlightened by some classy folks.
Loren, I have always been impressed with the Hargrave styling. Let me ask, is Mike Joyce one and the same as Michael Joyce from Colonial Yacht Sales, or is it father/son? Thanks Capt Tom
Hey Carl, yer goodie box found its way across the badlands to Phoenix today. That camera is really a cool piece of gear! YachtForums ROCKS! Kelly
i received my goodie box today many thanks indeed and best wishes that the forum continues to be a great success
Thanks Carl, goodies are here Its like christmas time and yes your right, its cold here so the winter jacket be perfect!
Glad everyone got their goodies. Haven't heard from Garry, but he hasn't posted recently either. Possibly our first YF captain lost at sea?
