I came accross a product today that's called Mascoat Delta T Marine. www.mascoat.com/marine.php. It's a special coating and basically promises that by using it, on say your steel hull you don't need to put traditional blanket and foam insulation material anymore, making huge savings installation cost while providing a anti-corrosion coating at the same time. It claims to provide equal protection when compared to 2-3" of conventional batt-insulation systems. So, an awesome product it seems to me which begs the question: why do yard stilll use traditional blanket and foam ??? Apparently it was used on the yacht Turmoil but possibly in combination with traditional methods. Does anybody have any experience with this product? They also offer a sound dampening coating. Interesting site, I liked the fact that you don't even need a primer for aluminum. I will definitely keep it in mind for when I redo the stateroom and lower head this spring. Will be interesting to determine how much benefit is derived from using it.
