Perhaps my memory is faulty or the equipment was well hidden but I can't see how some of these functions would be performed on several of the yachts that I've been on. During the initial design stages are the safety functions made a priority or does styling overrule all other considerations?

When all the tenders are stashed away in garages aren't the options for rescue reduced?

At least in Europe this is always considered. Even at our smallest production boats, we have a swim platform with a ladder you can lower from the water.

On the largest yachts there should be a boat that can be lowered in a minute or two. Usually a rib tender. But in heavy seas, a life raft may be used as a first aid. At least the crew have practised how to enter a raft, because it isn“t that easy...
