In light of a new vessel that is in the process of being uncovered at Blohm + Voss/Lurssen Dock 17 a new thread has been created. Not 100% sure what vessel this, in case it is the new Project Sassi this is the thread for discussions on that yacht. If it isn't as more information comes out I will amend the thread. For those not familiar the previous Sassi was a total loss after catching fire at Lurssen a while ago. She was rumoured to have been in the 146-meter range. If this new vessel is the new Sassi then we could look out for something similar.

Legendary Blohm and Voss company now belongs to Lurssen and Sassi more probably was not destroyed entirely by fire in Sept-18 but altogether with the floating dock damaged as well were put in standard dry dock in order to restore both the yacht and floating dock. Thus Sassi is alive. Looking forward to see her rebirthed.

I'm very excited to see the rebirth of Sassi. She was one of the yachts I was most looking forward to seeing.

Ive seen the photos and she was very much destroyed. They wouldn’t reuse her at all.

Are they going to move her to Dock 10?

I saw he photos as well and realized that only upper part of the yacht (superstructures) was destroyed and as to the hull up to the main deck which is the basement of any ship it may quite survived and used later for restoration. Though ... there are two reasons not to do this. First of all - possible deformation of the hull during the fire and changes in steel structure. And second - bad aura of this ship from the very beginning of her life. Professional sailors are very sensitive to such things.

There’s going to be more damage down there than you think. I’ve dealt with this on a larger scenario and it’s not economical to use again, let alone for someone building a brand new yacht versus a commercial/governmental scenario.

I've read this yacht might be the long-awaited successor to Coral Island.

This ship was reported as Project OPERA 147m long, replacement of Sassi and "new Coral Island". The latter sounds strange since Project Coral Island-II was labelled to Pelorus long ago.

You are right, Pelorus was originally commissioned by the Saudi Arabian owner of Coral Island as a replacement of the 73m.

    She is quite massive.
Now I'm very curious to see Project Blue, the 158 metres...not sure if it's the one with fuel cells.

Well out of the dry dock... Looks decent so far, can't wait to see her completed next year.
