There are actually rumors that the project Icecap is the successor of Northern Star. Not unlikely given the owners previous collaboration with Lürssen and the broker as well as his preference for explorer yachts.

On a yachting page on Instagram it shows a photo of a yacht that I would guess to be the new project.

Search for "Family Bay", the Designer is J. Kinder from Munich. It is the exact yacht, which appears at Brokers website under the name ICECAP...

According to Norwegian newspapers (and confirmed by Olav Tanberg, boss of Kleven) Lurssen wants to cancel the contract with Kleven. No reason(s) given in public yet. Kleven is behind schedule with at least one of the two expedition cruise ships they are building for Hurtigruten, so Lurssen might be worried about a timely delivery of the hull.

That would be interesting to see how Lurssen would solve that problem with the owner if they are already on the hook.

Indeed, she should be the successor. Too many commonalities to deny! For the benefit of everyone, here is a render of what the finished product should look like. It is a fairly confidential project at this stage.

Nice it will be interesting to see how accurate this rendering and the actual vessel is.

The Northern Star interiors have been notoriously heinous over the years. If this is another successor, I hope they depart from their more typical interior aesthetic.

It is only after they sold that the interiors were changed to something more soothing and contemporary as is the case with "Bella Vita".

Interesting. I quite liked the understated elegance of the Pauline Nunns interior.

Understandable, everyone has their own opinion I guess. But that style is definitely not for me.

G + K SteelCon in Poland has launched the 43 m bow section of Project Icecap/Northern Star on Sept. 16.

The rest of the hull is supposed to be under construction at Lurssen's Peene Werft in Wolgast.

It's 2021 and this is one of the Lurssen projects that has been penned to launch this year. This is a highly confidential project and there is literally no information on her.

The last thing I have heard of this project was, that Lürssen wanted to cancel that project or at least wanted to get rid of it. Never heard of it ever since.

This is not accurate. One steel section (I believe the bow) was floated from a Polish yard down to Lurssen's Peene Werft last year. It's still moving along, albeit not being constructed at the usual Lurssen yards (Rendsburg and Lemwerder).

Then this project is not a "Luerssen Yacht" project. Either a commercial project of the sister company "Luerssen Werft" or "Foreign Work" for an external project management.
