We recently purchased a 1987 Chris Craft 450 Yacht Home. We will be keeping her in AZ at Lake Pleasant. I am looking for anyone that owns or have owned a 450 and any sources of information. I have not had much luck on the internet other than the 2-3 that are for sale. Thanks Tim
Greetings breweraz, Welcome to YachtForums. I may have a sales brochure from 1985 and/or 1986 that has some boiler plate info from Chris Craft on that model. What sort of info on the 450 Yacht Home are you looking for?
Tim, I was with Uniflite back when the 45 was developed, and spent a little time there after CC took over. I have no data on hand, but might recall some details. Let me know what you are after. dcweed at comcast dot net
Chris Craft 450 Yacht Home Thank you for the responses: The information I am looking for, from a data standpoint, is what years, how many of were produced, are there known issues with this model's manufaturing process or design that have surfaced over the years. I am just trying to understand if and what are things to look out for. Was this boat the last of production runs during the Chris Craft transition years and was this model discontinuied due to bad sales, or what. I am also intersted in day to day use fo the boat. What are experiences with her handling abilities, stability, systems, etc. As I stated in my intro email she seems to be very well made and with good systems is that just looks or reality. The particular boat I purchased is the sister ship to the one in the picture. My boat, Sandra Kay, was pretty much a marina boat. The engine hours shows 267 and 275 hours. I do have service records that validate these hours so they seem to be real. The boat was brought down from the north end of Lake Powell to the AZ side, 100 mile trip by the previous owner to minimize the shipping cost. Other than that very little use. She is being moved to Lake Pleasant near Phoenix AZ. She will be kept on a resevoir lake marina so not really used as a coastal cruiser but at times the lake can get pretty rough with a mountian storm or a monsoon during season and we do like overnighting in the many coves and resevoir fingers. Thanks again. Tim Brewer
