Photos appeared today of the forward section of a new large explorer yacht at the Lloyd Werft yard at Bremerhaven, according to German press reports its 140m vessel possibly being built for Roman Abramovich as a larger Luna. She may have been ordered as far back as 2015.

Interesting stainless shell plating fwd. on the bulbous bow, thruster tunnels and anchor pockets. Difficult to form and weld compared to the mild steel and 10 x as expensive.

It will be interesting to see her when she is completed. I remember hearing something awhile back that possibly Mr.A was building a new larger version of Luna. Looks like it has become reality.

It looks like she will be pretty massive. Hopefully we can see a fully completed hull soon.

Would she need stainless steel plating in the bow/bulb area to be ice classed?

The bow section looks similar to some of the designs by Frank Neubelt, i-yacht / ex Newcruise, who was also involved in project Luna.

Ah, I think I understand now, Stainless steel over the hull. Push thru ice, don't have to keep repainting the bow.
I was just thinking chain protection and something shinny (expensive).
I'm not sure if a bulb bow would work well in ice unless there is a torpedo loaded in there.

Looking at the available photos she seems to have at least one more deck than Luna and the bow looks much blunter (less sheer) than Luna too.

It looks like she is being assembled in a covered hall (I can't find the halls on Google earth???) so we will have to hope someone photographs the other modules as they arrive or wait until her launch which might not be until 2020.

Sorry, I got the construction location totally wrong, the photos online show a module being removed from a module hall, it must have been transported to the main Lloyd Werft yard where as far as I can tell there are no covered assembly halls so we should be able to get regular updates.

Section no 2 has been moved from Stahlbau Nord to Lloyd Werft's floating dock no 3 a couple of days ago. Pictures on the internet. Looks to be about 30 m in length, so there should be another 2 sections to come.

Nice find! Yes, the concept of Neubelts BV 140 could be the template for Solaris and give us a first impression of the yacht.

I agree with Niko it was a very nice find and it looks very similar to Solaris. A larger better version of Luna.

Third and last section (aft part of superstructure and stern), length about 70 m, has been transfered to the floating dock.

It’s has been nice to see her take shape. Unlike other superyachts we normally don’t see this. Very cool!

The first section was about 30 meter long, the second 20 meter and the last 70 meter. So Solaris should be more 120m than 140m long.

All parts are in the shed right now. There wont be news for next couple of month. I think we will see her at the end of the year or at the beginning of the next year.

According to a certain magazine, Solaris exterior was designed by Marc Newson and she's 145 meter-long.

Guillaume Conti made an interesting illustration using the available photos of Solaris' sections. The final result will be something similar to this:
