Maybe just trying to remain unkown while in the port.

    Hi,

I see a covered nameboard on Polar Star but can't see anything like that in the upper pic which I assume is Kismet.

The cover could well be to protect and prolong the life of the varnish/goldleaf on the nameboard.

    Kismet

The upper pic is the open glass paneled arch where "KISMET" trailed her name. Now the glass panels are removed. On POLAR STAR, you might be right about protecting the varnish/gold leaf, but in light of new port security regs isn't it a no-no to cover the vessels name?

Yes, I see the glass panels are removed. Interesting spotting, I am not sure what to make of it on Kismet.

My guess, Kismet heading to med, breakable stuff stashed inside. Polar Star, just covers it's called privacy. Also with AIS everybody that matters knows who it is.
