Scary stuff http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/01/world/middleeast/01sailors.html?_r=1&hp Hope this gets resolved quickly
Just a political thing, but that's a dangerous part of the world. A professional crew with modern navigation equipment shouldn't make a mistake like that.
you dont' really think they made a mistake, do you? Iran has been at this game for a while, like North Korea... someone need to have the OO to kick their butt once and for all. they're also holding 3 hikers... and to think that alinghi wanted to hold the Cup with miles of Iran...
Meaning *you* would have never done it, but perhaps in the real world it was an honest mistake. Or the fact that Iran makes the claim that the boat was or did venture into their waters when in fact it wasn't. Clearly a conceivable M/O for the political games / power trip charades they play.
Military ships push the border. A novice often gets lost. A professional crew in an area known to have border problems? I'd be more inclined to think political gamesmanship.
That I believe we can agree on. Political bullsh1t. Let's hope that the sailors find their way home and are well in spirit and body in the meantime.
I can't believe anyone would say something like this. Not only is it a bad reflection on a respectable community, you just discredited yourself.
I quite agree. The minority hold the power there and yet Henning would destroy the innocent majority - most of whom are praying and dying for freedom! BBC radio news reported this morning that it had heard that the sailors have been released but it is awaiting confirmation.
Hi, Here is something from the BBC that seems to confirm the release of boat and crew. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/8389946.stm
A report I heard was that part of the folding prop sheared or corroroded and they lost drive/blades. It will be interesting to see what brand of prop it was? I await all the Volvo jokes in trepidation. Fish
Hear, hear. You know how beauty queens always want 'world peace'? Mine [and I am no beauty - neither am I a queen!] would be 'keep politics out of sport'.
Yeah, good luck with that. That ship sailed with Jesse Owens and Hitler and hasn't stopped sailing since.
