Unlike all other forms of stainless steel used in marine propeller shafts, aquamet 17 shafts are not only capable of standing up to brutal torsional forces, they are also...magnetic.

If you've got 1.5" 304 or 316 SS shafts, you pretty much top out at 135 diesel hp. All of the high strength SS alloys (AM17, AM18, AM19, AM22, etc) are good for 475hp or better in a 1.5" shaft size, but 17 is the only one you can distinguish with a magnet.

My 46 Roamer, it turns out, has magnetic 1.5" shafts. I'm a happy man.
