Details are sketchy. Apparent hit and run crash on the New River left a 44' boat badly damaged and taking on water. Authorities are looking for the other boat which left the scene. Photos of the damaged and sinking boat look like a newer model Huckins. Terrible.

Tragic by any cause, criminal, imo, if this was a hit and run.

Was the Hinckley underway also? I don't see any shorepower cable running to the dock and all of the vessels lights on.

One would have to be moving pretty fast OR be a pretty big boat to hit the Hinckley and do enough damage for the Hinckley to start sinking I would think.

I just went by there. The mooring whips are in place but no boat. I was under the impression that the Huckins was tied to the dock. In fact I seem to remember seeing her there last New River boat ride with a colleague.

The article says it happened around 6pm on Saturday. There are condo's and people ALL OVER the place at that time where the boat is docked. How did nobody see what happened? Unless a motoryacht kicked it's stern over and wacked it and the Captain simply didn't feel it and it didn't seem like an event to anyone.

Just deep enough to flood the entire engine room. Such a shame to see a Fairform Flyer in that position.

There will be video camera footage from some surveillance source....

Any info on what the damage is? That might help determine what the incident looked like.

That is the relatively new Huckins 44 which had been donated to Chapman, and sold about 3 years ago. Sad.

I know the guy who owns the boat, a fellow pilot a few canals over:
A water tight bulkhead prevented it from sinking..
The whole incident was caught on camera by a party boat: The culprit was a Tiara 39 Sovern named Rendez or similar name, he backed into the docked boat twice, the Tiara’s swim platform probably holed the victim.
It looked like drunk driving to me. Will try to post the video to youtube or something. Right now it’s on buddy’s WhatsApp on his iPhone.
(Can’t download WhatsApp to my iPad for some odd reason)

Picture of the out of control Tiara:

Got the videos on my phone. Be happy to share, or upload to YF.

This should make it fairly easy for the authorities to find the offenders.

Please upload them. I'd love to see the video. Boat is totaled considering all of the machinery and electrical in the Engine Room went under.

Some damage to the swim platform trim, but Tiara build strong boats.. C452A7BE-37D6-4144-8C9C-FD0E9F5DEF50.jpeg

The port corner on the 39 is a little difficult to see on that boat from the helm, but there is no good excuse for what happened... especially on an IPS boat.

What really stinks is in today's world, the owner didn't even come back once he had time to think about what he'd done.

Yeah, already found, Police and Lawyers involved.
Video evidence showing how the Tiara backed into the victim twice.
A bit sickening to watch it.
No idea how to upload it, but from my iPhone 7 I can always send it to an expert (via the WhatsApp?) for uploading to this thread..Carl?
