G'day All Came accross your Forum some week's ago and finally joined! Like you all, I am a Fanatic Bertram fan. Having owned 6 Australian Bertram's in our family. You may not be aware, but Bertram as a name does not exist in Australia any more. It is now known as Carribean. Bit of trivia for you all. Look forward to chatting on the Forum soon.
Welcome aboard. You'll be happy to note that this summer I seem to be seeing a ton (at least 8) of the old 29's out and about in these parts.
When you say old 29's. Do you mean Australian boats? In fact a general question for the forum..... Do you see many Aussie built Bertie's or Carribean's in the USA?
Very few, I knew the importer and he stopped inporting them. They built the boats slated for the US market sloppy in comparison to the ones built for the Australian market and he had to go through them and re-do and re-engineer a lot of things on them before he could sell them.
Thanks for your reply Capt J. I guess it is not disimilar here in Australia too. We rarely see an American built Bertie, however there are some early series 35's(circa 1970's), early 42's and even some flat deck 25 Flybridge! One thing common amongst all Bertie's is they are big on power! Out of interest, below is the link for the Aussie website http://www.caribbeanboats.com Till next time - Happy boating
