When I switched on the unit a couple of days ago, the screen didn't light up properly, but presented with dim GARMIN across the screen and underneath a statement in green letters,

    Recovery Loader Ready.

There is nothing in the manual about this.

I was hoping someone else may have come across this problem, or perhaps has any advice.......electronics at this level are way out of my league.

It is about 10 months old and has performed flawlessly since it was installed last July. Has never been wet with spray or in direct sun. It is installed at the lower station, in the cabin, not the fly bridge.

All the connections are clean and has 12.8 VDC.

    With many thanks in anticipation.

I contacted Garmin through net support, they said I would have a reply within 3 days, it is now 4.....nothing heard.

I bought the combo system from West Marine, and spent some time with their reps this afternoon. .....they were all exceptionally helpful,

I had taken advantage of their insurance Plus system, i believe they will replace it when they've had the chance to check it out.

I have never had an electronic device fail so quickly before, i guess I was lucky in the this was the first time I'd insure such a device.
Also, at $4K, it is by far the most expensive gadget I've ever bought.

Garmin sent a note via email, requesting the unit be sent to them. It will be dealt with under their warranty which still has a month to run.

Their offer of help included comments such as..... they will do everything to resolve the problem

Today I received a replacement unit from Garmin, who were very helpful,

The unit was expeditiously returned, needs to be recalibrated of course.

There was no charge, the repairs being completed under their warranty.

I shall continue to highly recommend Garmin and their products
