    Heard a new strangle rattle when the CAT tech was over. I couldn't pinpoint the source but he was able to. One of the forward fuel tank L hold-downs had failed. It corroded through right at where they bent it when new and the galvanizing had fallen off. Easy fix with galvanized L bolt normally for imbedding in concrete to hold base plates. Shortened and threaded the other/short end of the L and slipped right into place.

    I do need to get my small shop vac down and vacuume the engine room.

    Maybe some Teff-Gell or nylon washer and band on the threads keeping the 3 different metals apart.
    Nylock nut on the other end?

    You will never have to think about it again. Unless your going to update the other capture points.

    Locking nut on bottom/bulkead side. Original was double nutted but that makes the short part of the L too long to fit between the tank and bulkhead to install. I'll replace the other side next time I need to have the batteries out as need them removed for access.

    One motor had a bit lower oil pressure and gauge pulsing when I got back from marina, had 3 1/2 qts too much oil. I think the tech who did genset oil change (since fired) pumped oil into the stbd motor before noticing had the oil exchange valve set wrong. Pulled oil sample to confirm oil viscosity off (from mixing) and look for anything else.

    Was that a CAT warranty oil service? Main oil change on their dime now! I trust one guy, and one guy only to work on my boat. And I'm usually there pulling wrenches with him.

    The pics in this thread have been reduced in size. Please keep pics under 800 pixels.

    Sorry. I don't have a way to drop resolution. Suggestion?

    Using MS Windows;
    Right click the picture icon and 5 down is edit (nothing fancy, just edit).. Open that, towards the top left is resize.
    Click resize.
    Click on by Pixel, edit the top line to 800 (or less), the height will auto adjust.
    Hit file and save.
    I usually save my pics with an a added to the name so the original is safe.

    It's worth noting, if you rename your pics to something that describes the image, it will be better indexed by search engines resulting in a larger response to your threads/posts because you're reaching a broader audience than just YF alone.

    Thanks. Never saw the photo edit in Windows. My photo editing software dies when WIndows went to 64 bit.
