    Hi all,

About 5 years ago i left the Royal Navy serving 4 years onboard 2 different ships as an Operator Maintainer for 2 years and Engineer Technician for the other 2 years. During the 4 years i gained experience working as part of the ships fire fighting and damage control team. I also worked as part of the ships security team whilst on duty, on top of this i helped with seamanship tasks helping with bringing the ship alongside port and when leaving port as well as helping with anchorage tasks whilst out at sea.

Will i still need to do the STCW95 course considering my background? Also can anyone recommend any companies that are currently hiring for deckhands?

    Many Thanks

Hi, I have encountered Ex RN fire fighting Instructirs who have had to do the STCW courses so I guess you will too.

It will also make getting on a yacht easier if you do it as some demand it of everyone onboard.

Good luck getting your nose in the door
