It is good to see Feadship "returning to their roots" and with sensible designs.

Interesting that Feadship offers a choice of very different exterior treatments for the same basic package. Has anybody done this before?

    Press Release of Ocean Mercury

April 23, 2008:De Vries Scheepsbouw: The first custom-built yacht in the SL39 M series has been launched and is called Ocean Mercury. The vessel was designed by De Voogt Architects and has an interior by the renowned Terence Disdale.

Ocean Mercury is a full displacement world cruising motor yacht. The materials used in the construction were steel and aluminum. Steel for the hull and aluminum for the superstructure.

The SL39 series is a highly customizable type. With the owner being able to choose layout of the interior spaces as well as have significant input in the development of the exterior styling.

The interior is of contemporary styling by Terence Disdale and features bleached oak and ivory coloured carpets and materials. The accommodation plan has been flexible as well. The Ocean Mercury is a family boat and so the accommodation -in part- can be versatile. Four guest cabins can be change into two VIP staterooms.

The second SL39 is scheduled for delivery in December 2008.

The third SL39 should be launching pretty soon as it was said to be launched for fall 2009. If the renderings are correct, she should be oyster white with a muddy brown masked windows on the superstructure.

"GO" ex.Project MK3 has been launched by Feadship. You can get an idea as to what her interiors look like by the renderings on the sl39 website.

Unlikely to see more of them, as Feadship will focus on building 100% custom designed yachts in the coming years. As was explained by the CEO in a video interview on a different site
