My current plan is to install dual station controls on my 1984 Post 43 forward of the cockpit sink. Engines are DD 671's with single dual function engine controls and split single shift controls. Additionally, there is a Glendinning synchronizer installed. I have seen pictures of the controls installed but have no idea how it's setup. I had a work boat that had dual controls and believe the throttles were in parallel and the shifter in series. Wondering if anyone has this installed and could give me some insight or a picture as to how and what is needed. Thanks
Cable drag, is a drag to be concerned with on remote cable stations. This quickly changes the ease of pushing levers to a chore. I have the big & fat grey cables on our boat and still a chore. If you must stay with cables, I would encourage short cables directly to the engines and clutches, connected side by side to your original cables. Use the supper slippery Morse cables and plan on replacing the original cables also. Now that you are spending money on another set of better mechanical controls and 4 new cables (not cheap), I would encourage looking at electronic controls also. There are a few shops that offer this stuff including Glendinning.
Previous boat had Morse Cable Controls. Tower connected to the bridge and bridge to the motors. Third set of controls from the cockpit also ran directly to the motors. Since you already have Glendinning there will be throttle cables running in and out of the unit so I would contact them for a diagram on adding another station, and depending on age of current cables this might be a good time to replace them all. I found the cables that made the tightest turns were the first to crack and then rust. Recently repowered my smaller 25 ft. with Suzuki's and opted for all electric controls that turned out to be a HUGE improvement that included single lever control & synchronizer of both engines with the press of one button.
