Some newspapers of the region of Bremen (north of west Germany) are reporting, that the German based yacht dealer und builder Drettmann GmbH is bankrupt. Drettmann builds the brands Elegance Elegance open Premier Bandido Vision and was founded in 1970.
Hopefully they find a solution I worked with the Drettmann Group or their Clients for many years and also have around 10 Yachts still crewed mostly working for German Owners. For all of us it always a problem when a big market player runs in trouble.
I wrote that already but didn't found the post again... Really a pity. The website is still on http://www.drettmann.com/index.php?id=yachten&L=
Sure, the company exists already and they want to sell yachts, to save the company. A website is an great marketing tool
From what i understand they have laid off 20 or so people in Mallorca. Mallorca is full of 2nd hand Drettman boats as this is their base. There are also rumors that clients are now going directly to he manufactures getting better prices and maybe even better warrantee
How much they are costing now? Maybe if i could, then my dreams are closer for a reality, which i still don't believe... to be truth!
Sorry for this story, hope they can recover soon. Then again Drettmann does not build any of these boats they are just the largest dealer for the Horizon series of yachts. Surely they have given a big input for the growth of Horizon as they are the biggest dealer, and the Elegance series was actually commissioned by them, as was the Premier and Bandido range.
Bandido Range The Bandido Range is not buildt from Horizon Yachts. It is buildt by www.jade-yachts.com Anyway I am sure that someone will step into the Bandido and Elegance business again in case that are really nice looking Yachts and always have a special Interior thanks to Claudia Drettmann that designs this for most of the Yachts. It would be interesting to see how this will effect other Brand Name Yachts now in case I am sure every Elegance or Bandido Owner will try to sell ASAP but nobody will take a Yacht as a trade-in at the moment. And if you try to blow up a 73 feet hull to 135 Feet and add 2 decks more it might be a good idea to make some tank tests before. But you are right Graham the main base for Elegance Yachts is Mallorca and most of the clients are sailing here just from bay to bay and this might be a reason that a proper tank test would result in a higher draft and than most of this nice bays are closed than for this Yachts ?? Also if the after sales service worldwide will be effected too by this insolvency than the builders ( Horizon and Jade ) should quickly find a solution to assist with special parts. Most of the installations are made from other brands and they are still in business. Also Elegance was not the first one remember Kaiserwerft, Mazzarin Yachts all of them are already gone.
Only the first Bandido, the 90 was built by Jade Yachts. The rest (66, 75) which are GRP constructions where carried out by Horizon.
Yes the smaller 66 and 75 are GRP the 90 to 140 is steel and I think still buildt from Jade the 140++ Range is than again buildt by Horizon ?! Maybe thats also the reason for problems when you start building up a Brand name like Bandido but using 2 different materials and also 2 different shipyards and mix it always up to the Yard where they offer free building space. ?? or the best price ?
The real problem here are the used boats. Seeing Drettmann site they have about 100 million EURO of used boats. Sunseeker is facing a similar problem, when they covered a dealer who had about 30 million EURO in used boats later on this year. Inrizzardi in Italy are in the same mud.
Yes Drettman yachts got in finicial trouble. But the compnay needn't to be close or something like that i am new here and i am pleased to be here
Drettmann Sunrise Group Drettmann starts again with new Investor. Sunrise Group from Turkey takes over the Drettmann company and forms an new company Drettmann-Sunrise. On Düsseldorf ( German ) Boot Show in January 2011 the new concept will be shown. Keep you posted.
