Hi Guys I'm not near my boat/charts & I'm trying to give a guy advise about his first trip from NJ to NC. He asked what the distance is from Cape May up the C&D & down to Norfolk if the outside was too rough. I've only taken that route once when the weather went from bad to worse & can't remember the approx. distance. I do recall I left Coinjock & made it a good way up the Chesapeake but had to stop for fuel. Any educated stabs at the distance? Thanks Dave
HA!!!!! When I was posting the question, I did think to myself "Pascal would know this off the top of his head". Thanks Guys!!
Delaware River from the west end of the Cape May Canal to the eastern mouth of the C & D is 76.3nm. Western mouth of the C&D to Tidewater in Norfolk is 177nm per my route. Cape May to Annapolis or the Soloman Is. is a comfortable days run, then to Norfolk, then to Coinjock (long slow 50 miles). One can certainly push further, but that's comfortable in a 20kt +- boat. Ocean City Md. to Tidewater in Norfolk is 125nm. Chelsea Pier (NYC) to Ocean City is 159nm. (No need to go all the way to Florida for you answers Dave. ) (BTW, in case I forgot to mention, Thanks for the rec on the surveyor. He did good. )
