I am new to this forum, and I know there's plenty of experience with this group from reading the comments.
I am looking at a Cat Diesel with a V-drive, I had V-drives in some gas boats, no trouble with them, but they were noisy. I know there are much experience out there about various boats and problems and if I can get pro answers anywhere, you Captains have it.
Thanking you in advance for comments. Jim

Are you looking at a specific model?
The TD V drives I do not have problems with.

Most large systems have boat mfg problems. Example, can not reach the shaft log packing.

I don't know the model, they are on 3126 cats, I just don't waste my time or sellers if the drives are a problem.

The TD V Clutches on SeaRay 3126s were great if maintained well.
However, pending the model of boat, make sure you can get to the shaft log for service.
Some SeaRays were wide open, some were a nightmare.
The clutches and Vs were great.
    Survey well for oil leaks.
