Toying with the idea of installing a diesel heater in my 52' hatt. i had a diesel heater in my older boat and really liked the idea of heat over night while not plugged in. What are some of the quality diesel heater manufactures? Other then drilling a huge hole through the side of the hull, are there any simpler solutions for venting the diesel heater?
Hi, I had an Espar heater in a 66' sailboat about 7 years ago. Had it running through a Maine december and a couple of RI winters and it worked really well. I think I used to keep the temp down below at about 75F in 30-40F weather, and that would use about 5 gal/24 hours. Ozzie
My company installed a couple of different types of heaters and we used Espar. Webasto and ITR. With the exception of space constraints ITR is hands down the best. The customer service is excellent bar none. They know their product and stand by it 100%
I will second the ITR (Hurricane) after installing one in my 48 footer a couple of years ago. It works great, is quiet, and it's dependable.
