Following the successful launch and delivery of the 77M Project Lana -now known as Samar- the Devonport shipyard has moved on to bigger yachts. If Devonport yachts were not perceived to be on the megayacht map, Samar has definitely made them more known than they were before. Now with the quality of build of the Samar exhibited, it is time to move on to the 82M Project 54. This 82M project, like Samar, is a very hushed project. She was slated for launch back in May, however, this apparently did not materialize. The massive 82M steel hull was constructed at Devonport's Appledore facility. On the other hand the aluminum superstructure was constructed and fitted to the hull at the said Devonport. This massive project was designed by world renowned Andrew Winch Designs in conjunction with the Devonport yacht team. Project 54 was slated to be moved to the Devonport Royal Dockyard for final fitting out and completion. Other well known names working on this megayacht include the technical oversight by Burness and Corlett & Partners, Southampton. This lovely vessel that was underconstruction by Devenport Yachts is reportedly launched, Project 54.
It is reported that Project 54 will become the new Sarfasa. Remember the Amels Sarfasa was sold a little while ago and renamed.
For those of you who might not know, the Devonport shipyard is no more as in Devonport Royal Dockyard and has been taken over by Babcock International Group PLC. The Devonport site is currently under development.
This is the first picture I have seen of the "Sarafsa" at night. Albeit not a great photo, it gives you an idea how she is lit. http://photos.marinetraffic.com/ais/showphoto.aspx?photoid=9279&size=full
