Hi, Heard this on radio a few hours ago and found this article when I got back to desk. CTV British Columbia - Police suspect blast in ship engine room caused fire - CTV News
Not quite a cruise ship, but a coastal steamer doing scheduled runs. I started my merchant marine carrier on those steamers peeling potatoes up and down the coast at age 14. The ship is listing to Port due to accumulated water in the engine room:
Hi, It is a small one alright but that is how it popped up when I searched for it. See the search results: cruise ship on fire in norway - Google Search
Yup, it is called a Cruise Ship and occasionally they are being used for expedition cruises to Antartica, but the main mission is scheduled service between Bergen and Kirkenes in Norway. If I remember correctly each round-trip takes 13 days and there is (was) 13 ships, so each town and village gets a daily Northbound steamer and a daily Southbound steamer. About 2 dozen stops each way. Quite a few International tourists buy tickets and do the entire round-trip and they probably see it as a "Cruise".. The ships have been sailing the route for over 100 years and my family from both sides has crewed on them for several generations. The Germans did a number to the service sinking many ships during the WW2... This is the ship my father, my sister and I was on in the 70s: My grandather and 2 uncles also made a career on the older ships.
