The Lobster fellows use the surface piercing props for shallow draft so they can get in over the staghorn and piatella corals at our Houtman Abrolhos islands Archipellago off the Mid West Coast of Oz.

Some of them use jet boats for the same reasons.

Below is a photo for you, of the corals as I flew out this year back in March - the night after a big coral spawn event. The dark discolored water over the shallow sands in the photo is all coral spawn - amazing site to see - and the spawn when it washes up on the beaches is actually bright pink and smells really bad.

    Cheers!

    A little off topic

Sorry for drifting off topic guys...

    But

This coral spawning is just so amazing to see - it's so prolific it actually is one of the wonders of the world to see.

Here - the pinkness of the coral spawn is a little easier to see.

    Here you can

maybe get a better idea of the scale of the event.

How do the corals all know to spawn on the same night of the year?

    Gotta make you wonder eh?

    Luckily

the coral spawn doesn't totally ruin the fishing, although it does slow down a day or two afterward.

Any you guys actually fish off these floating gin palaces of yours? :D ;)

    Cheers!

    Talkative lot!

What? cat(amaran) got your tongues?

I dunno - is it just me - or are people a little quiet hereabouts?

If your all this quiet on these here big boats - it must be awefully dull cruising!
Maybe ya'll need to shut down the wireless (CD.Cassette) and re-learn the art of human conversation to pass the time!!

    Sheesh..

    Cheers!

This... and many other wonders of nature that boggle the imagination and challenge us to open our minds to what we often can not comprehend.

Nature is absolute perfection... defined. It is living proof that a greater intelligence exists.

It is theoretically impossible for evolution of this magnitude to have occurred... without some form of planning, execution or guidance. Even if we had the mathematical skills, the computational power and fertile minds that were not constrained by the boundaries of the human experience... we are (as humans) simply too arrogant to accept what we can not understand.

There are simply far too many phenomenons, that span from the nucleus of our our biological DNA to something as amazing as.... Corals spawning at the same time... on only one night of the year. Nature is simply amazing.

    Thanks for sharing Trouty!
