The expedition cruise ship Clipper Adventurer is stuck on a rock in the Canadian Arctic. Charts indicated 68 meters of water under the hull but not the rock. The incident occurred Friday night. All 122 passengers and 72 crew were rescued without injury by the Canadian Coast Guard on Sunday. The passenders had booked through a Canadian tour compamy but the ship is owned and crewed by Quark Expeditions a subsidiary of the UK owned TUI group. It was built in Yugoslavia in 1976, has an Ice class hull, is 328 feet long and weighs 5,750 tons. The ship remains on the rock and will be the responsibility of the owner to remove. Could be a problem.
Hi, If they have fully up to date charts issued or approved for use by the Canadians I would say there will be a number of lawyers who are currently preparing their pencil sharpeners for this one. Lets hope it can be got free before the weather turns and a little see saw action takes place to inflame the haemorrhoids.
