last summer a visitor docked temporarily at our yacht club with very new , expensive, approx 35 ft yacht. A type that would normally have large engines.
When he backed out of the berth I could see his transom very clearly. To my surprise this $700 k boat had outboard mounts with 2 Honda 60 HP outboard engines. I watched him for quite a while after he left our no wake basin. He continued along at what appeared to be comfortable cruising speed using the OB's. only. I'd love to do this. Although my boat is impeccable and in excellent condition trough out, the motors have been troublesome recently. We're in our senior years and seldom leave the dock for other then a 1k rpm evening cruise on our well protected bay. It's very appealing to me to lock down my engines and do this OB configuration. Any ideas on how to analyse / design / obtain info about my transom's structural capabilities and how to do it. Unfortunately the boat mechanics available where I'm located are mostly thieving imbeciles, who can barely service any part of a boat without destroying something which they then charge politicians wages to fix.

    THANKS IN ADVANCE
    Anton

    Hi,

Do you have any idea what sort of boat it was that piqued your curiosity?
