Had an ad pop up for inflatable fenders… I clicked out of curiosity. Sold an Amazon and made by one of these chicom companies whose name is a random sequence of letters… in this case Luoweikadeng! Less than half the price of US made equivalent of course… And as usual they are too cheap to hire proper translators so reading the description will trigger a good laugh. Put your coffee down first : “a leading anti collision device”… “our fenders are fast and easy”… “aesthetic functionalism”… and more. What could go wrong using inflatable fenders from china I hope people don’t fall for this and American manufacturers like Aéré survive.
They will probably make a dent. See what I did there?! Seriously agree with your caution. One usually gets what they pay for, I know not always but usually. I have not doubt any factory can produce goods, that the workers are doing their best, but the short cuts and misrepresentation of the final product is too often the case. I do know that Fendertex is gaining in popularity, at least in the corinthian sailboat world. Not sure where they are made, designed and marketed by a French company:https://www.pyiinc.com/fendertex/manufacturing.html
