I just bought this boat and it has a gas smell I am trying to find. I replaced both the fuel inlet pipes to the tank but that was not the problem. I have now found that with my sniffer that there seams to be gas getting out around the fuel gage sensors. Has anyone ever had this problem?
    thanks for any suggestions

Carver has issues with leaking alloy fuel tanks. Seems your surveyor missed it.

    Corrosion and cracks.
In all the many years on the Ortega river (before both retirements), there was always a boat at Huckins or Saddler Point boat yards getting new tanks.
    Including my AquaSport.
A majority of these boats were older gas Carvers.
There was something about the tank installation and the hull that would keep a little water trapped between the hull side (out of view) and the tank bottom.
IMO; alloy tanks are consumable items. Just wish the whole ship did not have to come apart to replace them.

In my '77 2566 Santa Cruz, the cork seal under the level sensor failed, and gas came out when I filled up.

Replaced the gasket, no further problems.
