After more than fifty years of continuous aluminum fabrication experience, Burger Boat Company is shifting gears to a new, premium grade of the alloy called Alustar™. Used for nearly a decade by the finest Northern European custom shipyards and specified by the most discerning yacht designers, naval architects and engineers, the material is now the standard for all new yacht construction at Burger Boat Company.

Both Sycara, a 143' Fantail Cruiser and Sea Owl, a 142' Tri-deck are currently being built using this ultra high strength and highly corrosion resistant alloy. Essentially, Alustar™ is over 20% stronger both before and after welding than conventional aluminum alloy thereby gaining superb safety benefits and its highly anti-corrosive characteristics will significantly prolong the life expectancy of the vessel’s paint coating.

Throughout history, Burger has continually demonstrated its pioneering spirit by adopting, inventing or applying many progressive innovations that have catapulted the company and/or proven to be great industry advancements. Burger was the first custom shipyard in North America to install gasoline engines at the turn of the last century and later developed techniques to build North America’s first all-welded steel auxiliary ketch, Tamaris in 1938. Burger was the first North American builder to construct an all-welded aluminum cruiser, Virginia in 1955. Burger is now the first custom yacht builder in North America to use Alustar™.
