Considering having a bow thruster installed to deal with strong cross winds in those tight marinas.

Looking at Side Power brand installation model SE 120, 150 or 170.

Would love recommendations based on experience.

I would prefer a hydraulic system over electric. Have you looked at Vetus? I wonder if Viking could give you any tips, diagrams, etc on doing a post-production install.

I know the Vetus brand, but for some reason, two recommendations have strongly favored Side Power. Need to ask why.

I think talking to VIKING is a very good idea and I will do that too.

    Thanks!!

I would go the largest size you can install. The last thing you want is to spend the money to install a bow thruster that will only move the bow sideways against a 10 knot wind and nothing more. BTW, Viking is extremely helpful to owners of all vintages.

I have a hydraulic bow thruster on my 54 and I love it. It comes in handy quite often, it's not that you have to have it, it just makes tight situations so much easier and less stressful. Allows me to move the bow while standing in place.

    good luck.
