Bosch Generator with Cummins MerCruiser Diesel?

    Gentleman, we have several engines of Cummins MerCruiser, and they are QSD2.0-170HP and QSD2.8-220HP. These two models both have generators with them. What we only know is that the generators are made by Bosch. Thus, does anyone here know the generator models of these two engines respectively? Thanks very much!

    Hi,

    Is this generator the thing that charges the batteries or provides the electricity onboard?

    If it charges the batteries it should not be a huge job to change it to a different one if you cannot identify what you have. If it is the other end however the job will not be quite so easy.

    Did these engines fall off the back of a truck and all the documentation was lost? This question really should have been addressed to the manufacturer or whoever sold you the engines if they came from an authorized dealer or distributor. If you are installing their engines in the boats you guys are building you really ought to get to know those people.

    The manufacturer provides parts books and a list of every item installed on each engine. Between that book and the electrical diagrams in the other books that hopefully fell off the truck with the engines a halfway competent mechanic can tell you what size and style of alternator is used.
