I am planning to invest 2-2.5 Million $ in a new flybridge motor cruiser. With your experience , which boat manufacturer nowadays provides best value for money in this price level, taking into account 3 years normal usage, looking into issues such as durability, looks inside and out, speed, service, warranty and price depreciation over the three years. I believe I am looking for 60" to 70" sleeping 6-8. I would appreciate any assistance you may render me in terms of info, suggestions, etc.. Thanks again.
The best value for the money is the boat you fall in love with. I was showing boats to clients one day and the wife said to the husband "That second boat seemed more reasonable than the third".I said to them "Be careful, reason has nothing to do with this!" (Even more unreasonable is working in the boat business!!!) You need to find the yacht that gets you excited about going on board, the one that fits your personality and style. Think about how you will use the yacht, where you will use it, how often and long you will stay on board. A general recommendation is difficult, but if you can find something you like that is 1-3 years old instead of new, you will not get that steep first year depreciation.
Maybe something from Taiwan might be reasonable if you are looking for a good value... Horizon, Hargrave and a multitude of others could be good fits for you as they would be in your price range for a 70ft, and have top-notch finish and quality. Warranty will vary greatly depending on your dealer/local mfgr presence (I see you are in Israel)... Another option might be Numarine, from Turkey or some of the other builders such as De Birs in Egypt... Numarine seems to have a very good product, haven't seen their pricing in a while but they were always extremely helpful with information and always open to new discussions, overall extremely good communication in English... I have no affiliation with any of these...
BTW, looks depends on what you like (what kind of boats do you like?? which ones don't you like?) ex: joe recommended the nordhavn (iirc it is also built in Taiwan), but imho it doesnt look good... to him it probably does, so there you see 2 ppl already with different opinions... A wise friend of mine once told me "Taste is like a**holes, we each have our own"
4X4, A lot depends on what your intent is. Will it be long range cruising, where speed isn't an issue, but you need range and/or fuel economy (11 kt's or less = Trawler Style), or weekend jaunts where you'll need the ability to do 20+ kts (M/Y)? If someplace in between, maybe a semidisplacement vessel is more in order, a la Marlowe or the newer Grand Banks. Food for thought... Chuck
