Entry fees for the Bahamas will be changing in 2020, according to the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism website. Currently, all boaters entering the islands are required to pay the following entry fee:
Boats up to 35 feet: $150.
    Boats over 35 feet: $300.

Effective Jan. 1, 2020, the fees will be:
Boats up to 34 feet: $150 for 3 months; $300 annually.
    Boats 35-100 feet: $300 for 3 months; $600 annually.
    Boats 100-150 feet: $500 for 3 months; $1,000 annually.
    Boats 150-200 feet: $800 for 3 months; $2,000 annually.
Boats over 200 feet: $1,000 for 3 months; $2,000 annually.

The fees will cover a cruising permit and fishing permit, as well as the departure tax for up to three people. Each additional person will be charged a $20 departure tax. The fee is good for a second re-entry within a 90-day period.

For a stay longer than 12 months, special arrangements must be made with Bahamas Customs and Immigration. Office hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, with officers on call during holidays and weekends.

I cant name an island or country in the Caribbean that doesn't have at least one of these and most have both entry and departure tax.

The cruising permit fee is the entry tax. Departure tax is $20 per person, 4 are included in the cruising permit. So if you come with 10 pax total you will pay an additional $120 for the 6 extra departure tax

You only get two entries with your yearly cruising permit . Seems like your over there many times a year. I still think the Bahamas are reasonable enough for what a charter yacht or cruiser gets in exchange "The Exuma's"!! They can keep most everything else. SXM has outrageous fees by comparison and is a huge ripoff but they know that they've got a captive audience.

I agree. It s a bargain for what we get with the Exumas.

for us (84’) it doesn’t change anything. We rarely stay for more than 3 to 4 weeks and always come back within 90 days... we ll do the 90 days.

I really see no impact of the changes. We make many entries a year in many different boats and won't change at all. Yes, an extra $200 on those rare occasions we take a 130' over but that won't change our minds. I can't imagine any boat over 200' that is going to change their plans over a $1000 charge.
