    Hello everyone,
Im a new member here and I've been looking for a high end marina where I can dock my Ferretti 130' "TimeTraveler". Is there any marina in the caribbean that is hurricane-free and a beautiful location?

    Thanks in advance

Hurricane free, in the Caribbean? Not available. Grenada was supposed to be "below" the Hurricane Belt but it too has been hit in recent years. Even Curacao has had its share of storms.

There are numerous upscale marinas in the Caribbean which can handle your 130 footer. St. Maarten, U.S.V.I., B.V.I, The DR, Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, St. Barths, and more! Do a search for "Marinas Caribbean" on www.dogpile.com

Not to be biased or anything but Port St. Charles is safe hi-end marina if you want to put it like that. In terms of Hurricanes, Barbados has been blessed with its location.. Hurricanes coming accross the Atlantic either pass way to the North or just North or South(in the case of Ivan 2005) of Barbados. Your 130 Feretti can easily be accomodated here.. We have about 6 prime 'megayacht' berths at port St. Charles capable of accepting vessels the size of the Feadship m/y Utopia (234 feet) and depths of about 15 feet.
For the details you can check here...http://www.portstcharles.com/berthing.cfm

And for a nice outlay of the Marina....http://www.portstcharles.com/map.cfm

    Hope that helps

Alright so last night I was speaking to a long time friend that moved to Costa Rica to start his marketing firm. While catching up I brought up this question that we have been debating, he said that there is a new upcoming marina/resort in Costa Rica on the atlantic side of the country called IslaMoin. I called them today and they are offering 380 slips sizing from 50 ft to 250+ ft. They are going to have 100 home lots, around 400 condos, and about 100+ beach villas. The website is Link Removed. It's a great place because it's never been crossed by a hurricane and its a beautiful location so this may be the place for me.

I found this forum through a google search, and I have to say that not only is this site great, but this project is actually what I was looking for. I can safely assume that all boaters on the Eastern Coast of the States are starting to get a little worried now with the new forcasts. We were saved last summer and thankfully we did not have any major storms hit us up in Palm Beach but I take it we are going to have quite a problem on our hands... The islands in the Caribbean are great and all but I cant insure my yacht there, so what I buy a slip there and here comes a hurricane and I have to ship my boat back to France, definately not cost-effective. I really hope this project goes through, I already called and asked them to send me info, the dock slips are actually quite reasonable! Well thanks to timetraveler for the great info!

    Looks like a nice development.
Any ideas what the condos might list for?
