1176 miles from Palm Beach to Jones Inlet NY, stopping every night. Great food, weather, fuel, ladies, drinks and marinas. It was my son Luis's (14) second trip so we did not throw him in the NY water like we did last year. Had a broken "V" clamp on the outboard stbd turbo- replaced it at the next stop. That was the extent of the mechanical issues. Saw loads of marine life in FL near the Cape- hammerheads, brown rays, sailfish, mackerel, manta's.... Ospreys with chicks on nearly every marker in the dismal swamp + bald eagles. OC MD had a go fast boat fest so great party atmosphere. Great, great trip, and the crew loved it. I'm humbled and blessed to be driving a mid sized sportfish full time.

Left my camera with the wife as school ended and she wanted to take pics of my two youngest (6&7). One of the crew brought a "flip" camera (google it) and I'm gonna have the boss buy one for the boat.
The Megadock in Charleston (the blue sportfish is a newer 86 Jim Smith) and at the helm somewhere...
[IMG][IMG]If they are too big let me know and I'll edit and reduce them sorry

We must have just missed each other. I got in on Tuesday from Beaufort (We left the boat there on the way up from Lauderdale for a week to let that front clear). PM me what boat were you on.

Hey, the boss will get a big kick out of them [photos taken with the 'boat camera'] as well--boating by proxy, I had a feeling it was coming to that.

Usually we do not want too much evidence of our ongoings... kinda like Vegas, lol. We creep up the coast about 200 miles a day- it's more fun, we visit more ports, and less wear and tear on the boat. I cruise between 1600-1800. (18-22 knots). This trip was St Aug/ Charleston/ Beaufort/ Coinjock/ Ocean City MD then LI. Every leg was a great and we could not have had better weather.

i also take a lot of pics on these trips, I arrived in Nantucket a week ago, from Miami, was lucky with the weather on the whole trip. Of course since i got here, it's been mostly rain, fog, mist and temp in teh 50s!! although it probably broke in to the 60 today for the first time...

i take it easy though, 80 to 100nm a day, at hull speed to keep costs down (70' MY) ... many stops along the way which is even more fun :)

I also run a webcam which works about 80% of the trip thru ATT, along with Google Earth tracking.

What coast were you guys running? I got nailed by gale force winds, lightening and torrential downpours 2 weeks ago and that front went from NY to Miami where it dropped 22 inches and stalled just off the coast. Then, this past Monday we got nailed by another front in the Chesapeake at daybreak although it did turn gorgeous after it passed. We covered 80-150nm a day with the owner on board and about 150+ after. F.L. to Canaveral outside, then inside to St Augustine, St. Simon, Hilton Head, Georgetown, Wrightsville, Beaufort, Coinjock (steak was under cooked), Solomons Islands, AC & eastern L.I.

They used to be known for the cheapest fuel on the east coast. Then it was the steak. Last fall they ran out of NY Strip & this time my well done steak said Mooo. All they've got now seems to be getting your blood pressure up in the AM when you extricate you boat that's wedged in with 12" in front and in back to the next boats. Been going there since 1991. I'm thinking of crossing the canal next time.

Which coast? the right coast :) but that was earlier.. I left Miami on Apr. 28 and got to in NY around the 13th/14th. No weather issues at all, i went up the Ches. (love the stop in Annapolis...). even the delaware bay was smooth for a change!

i finally tried the Coinjock restaurant... it was ok... frankly i can do great steaks on my own grill!

you got 12"? you are lucky... we had like negative 12" with our pulpit haging over teh cockpit of the guy ahead and the pulpit of the 58 LRC behind hanging over my swimplatform!

Sounds like the trip went well.

It's almost my turn to take my boat for the summer. I take my 54' Bertram out of San Juan on a 6 hour long trip to the Virgin Islands. It's short, but the locale is spectacular. Can hardly wait :)

    Totally off topic

Every page for other sites and even the YF home page and New Posts page is fitting my screen, but the threads and reply pages are going very wide. Is it my computer or something with this site?

It's the pictures in the thread. They are a bit to big.

See how this second page is "normal".

when that happens, in Firefox do CTRL + or CTRL - to zoom in and out... if IE, there is a zoom thingy in the bottom right corner. it will adjust the page size for a better fit in your browser window.

Bill & Pascal, thanks for the computer lesson. Only trouble with the ctrl & zoom is that it shrinks it in all directions so my reading glasses need reading glasses. Bamboo let's size the pics next time.;)
