    Simply amazing how these storms can be so beautiful from the distance, yet be so ugly as you get closer.

    Hhmmm... sounds like a Match.com date! :D

    9.5 feet. and the frequency is a bit more than a chop.

    Not to take this thread off course, but speaking of Match.com... I subscribed for a month, about 3 years ago. The theory is great, but the reality was different. Let me explain...

    I looked at a few hundred profiles. E-mailed 6 that I was interested in. Of the six, three responded. Of these three...

    1. The first told me she was a size 2. When I met her... she needed to add a digit to that number!

    2. The second one told me her age was 32. When I met her... she needed to add a decade to that number!

    3. The third one told me she was the purest, most honest girl I would ever meet. Three dates later... I found out she was a call-girl!

    Like you said in a previous post... there's often a big difference between theory and reality. ;)

    Speaking of the difference between theory and reality, there’s a good joke…

    A boy was given a homework assignment to do an essay on the difference between “theory and reality”.

    He approached his father and asked “dad, what’s the difference between theory and reality?” His father thought for a moment and said “go upstairs and ask your sister if she would sleep with a man for a million dollars”.

    The boy returned and exclaimed “yes… sis said she would sleep with a man for a million dollars”.

    The father then instructed his son to go in the kitchen and his mother if she would sleep with a man for a million dollars.

    The boy returned and exclaimed “yes… mom said she would sleep with a man for a million dollars”.

    The father paused for a moment and then explained… “there you have it son, that’s the difference between theory and reality”.

    The boy, completely confused, said “I don’t understand, dad”.

    The father said “Son, it’s simple. In theory… we’re living with a couple of millionaires. In reality, we’re living with a couple of hookers”.

    The following is relevant to this thread. Somehow it's relevant. I'm not sure how... But it is.

    Far away in the tropical waters of the Caribbean, two prawns were
    swimming around in the sea - one called Justin and the other called
    Christian.

    The prawns were constantly being harassed and threatened by sharks
    that inhabited the area. Finally one day Justin said to Christian,

    "I'm fed up with being a prawn, I wish I was a shark, then I wouldn't
    have any worries about being eaten."

    A large mysterious cod appeared and said, "Your wish is granted", and lo
    and behold, Justin turned into a shark.

    Horrified, Christian immediately swam away, afraid of being eaten by his
    old mate.

    Time passed (as it invariably does) and Justin found life as a shark
    boring and lonely. All his old mates simply swam away whenever he came
    close to them.

    Justin didn't realise that his new menacing appearance was the cause of
    his sad plight.

    While swimming alone one day he saw the mysterious cod again and he
    thought perhaps the mysterious fish could change him back into a prawn.

    He approached the cod and begged to be changed back, and, lo and

    behold, he found himself turned back into a prawn. With tears of joy in
    his tiny little eyes Justin swam back to his friends and bought them
    all a cocktail.

    (The punch line does not involve a prawn cocktail - it's much worse).

    Looking around the gathering at the reef he realised he couldn't see his
    old pal. "Where's Christian?" he asked. "He's at home, still distraught
    that his best friend changed sides to the enemy and became a shark",
    came the reply.

    Eager to put things right again and end the mutual pain and torture, he
    set off to Christian's abode. As he opened the coral gate memories came
    flooding back. He banged on the door and shouted, "It's me, Justin, your
    old friend, come out and see me again."

    Christian replied, "No way man, you'll eat me. You're now a shark, the
    enemy, and I'll not be tricked into being your dinner."

    Justin cried back "No, I'm not. That was the old me.

    I've changed....."




    Wait for it....




    "......I've found Cod. I'm a prawn again Christian".

    At 9:05 AM (Sunday morning)... wave height = 24 feet. Dennis is scheduled to make landfall around 2:00 PM this afternoon. It appears the buoy relaying this info was located in the northeast quadrant of the storm as it passed by. Looks like the eye may have been within 50 miles +/-.

    The satellite loop shows it made a curve to the north this morning. It's looking more like a Pensacola, Florida landfall, rather than the Alabama coast. It's a shame, this area never re-covered from last year's storm.
