FIRST LIMITED EDITIONS AMELS 171 LAUNCHED

"Deniki" initiates new series with on-time delivery.

Vlissingen, The Netherlands: Amels, a member of the Damen Shipyards Group, announces the delivery of Deniki, the first in its LIMITED EDITIONS AMELS 171 semi-custom series. The LIMITED EDITIONS series was introduced just two years ago, at the Monaco show in September 2005, when preliminary data, drawings, and a model of the AMELS 171 were shown to the press, brokers, and potential clients. The exterior was boldly shaped by Tim Heywood; the interior warmly styled by Laura Sessa. Within a few months, on the basis of these early specifications, several of the new model were sold with the central attraction being a much earlier delivery than that of a fully customized yacht. Indeed, Deniki was delivered to her owner in little more than 14 months from the signing of the contract.

Though the fundamentals of the LIMITED EDITIONS AMELS 171 and its larger sister the AMELS 212 are set by the shipyard, there is ample room within the design for clients to customize each yacht to assure individuality. Deniki’s owner chose to have his house architect, Peter Heuvelmans, create a fully customized, extravagant, darkly whimsical mood below, in contrast to Sessa’s quite light, contemporary styling. (The other AMELS 171s on order will all have minor variations of Sessa’s luminous interior.)

Deniki left The Netherlands in early May, making her maiden passage to Monaco in time for the Grand Prix. On the way she encountered two Force 7 gales and highs seas and, according to her captain, Lawrence Cockx, rode them out comfortably. He reported: “Deniki is the best sea boat I have ever known.”

Equally impressed, when the owner came aboard in the Mediterranean he literally exclaimed: “I am happy with every detail. Great job! Fantastic! I love it!” With a dark-blue hull, off-white superstructure, and glowing mahogany caprails, Deniki, has also caught the eye and heart of many Mediterranean “critics” who recognize her outstanding quality, originality, and workmanship.

The next available LIMITED EDITIONS AMELS 171 is 2010. For further information, contact:
