NASA's six-tonne, 20-year-old spacecraft has fallen out of orbit and is expected to crash somewhere on Earth on or around 24 September:
I congratulate Al-NASA for their use of the terminology "that nobody has ever been hurt by objects re-entering from space", "re-entering from space" being the key phrase here I believe. Because those dinosaurs living here 65 million years ago might have had cause to sue them otherwise...?!

Still, doesn't excuse Al-NASA's salutory explanations that there will probably be numerous composants of the satellite weighing upto several 100kg each which won't burn up in the atmosphere and will hit the planet anywhere between 57°N and 57°S of the equator this Friday / Saturday.

So, why haven't the US Government (or their agencies involved in mostly top-secret, lucrative cost-plus contracts with private contractors etc.) required that a suitable missile (perhaps developed under the "Star Wars" program?) be launched to destroy the UARS satellite before it enters Earth's atmosphere, ensuring that all the major composants which might have survived a "normal re-entry" are completely destroyed into very little pieces which would indeed burn-up in the atmosphere without posing a risk to the civilian population.

The Chinese have done it. So launch a US missile, hit that rogue Al-NASA satellite. In the lower orbit, the debris probably won't even pose a major threat to other satellites in orbit.

Just do it (as NIKE might have said once).

PS. Unless of course, we're not just talking about an innocent Al-NASA satellite but perhaps an NSA spy-satellite or similar, full of extremely secret hardware and composants, which might kill thousands if they're exposed to the remnants of such a satellite after "landing".

PPS. So far as the "1 in 3200" risk this satellite poses. That's much better odds than what the lotto authorities locally offer. Apparently I have 1 in 300,000,000 risk of winning the jackpot in the EuroMillions or national French loto at each draw.

I sincerely hope that this Al-NASA satellite disintegrates by itself without any fall-out on populated areas. Or is otherwise destroyed (hey, if USA can't, perhaps the Chinese can?) Otherwise, it might be argued that we no longer need to consider Al-QAEDA. Just the "home-grown" terrorists that apparently have no responsibilities or need to justify their actions/inactions.

Yeah, airship is very pissed off with Al-NASA and USA government. Or at least the International media in case I've got it all wrong.

Why don't you just take your anti American propaganda elsewhere? Seems like it s the only stuff you post here anyway.

This will probably, and very reasonably, be removed by a moderator but I have to at least get it off my chest:

That bit of right wing jingoism is probably the best example of American ignorance of history and society that has ever been published outside the covers of American hate literature.

It says far more about the intellect and ignorance of its author than it does any historical or social fact. It also explains why so many people outside the borders of the US find us so offensive and just plain stupid.

Thanks for reinforcing the twisted points of people like the OP.
