THE ISSUE I recently purchased a 1988 4207 that was converted from gas to twon 300 hp cummings in 1991. The instalation is very good however there is a big problem / defiency. Not by carver but the guy that had it converted to Cummings. The never inlarged the air intakes and though I have removed the 4 Atwood small gas engine intakes and collector boxes I still need to increase the air intake. With the removal I have done to date I have improved intake air and fuel economy (1,800 rpm) 12.6 gph to 9.7 gph. They were starving for air. I've had larged diesels boats for the last 25 years and know the formulas for air intake etc.

THE HELP I NEED - Does anyone know of a co. that makes custor air intakes and collector boxes. I want to stay with stainless louvered vents over powder coated alum. The finish on Alum. has problems in salt water over time and I just soon do stainless than refinish the alum later on. The Ideal size to work with is 4 each louvered intake grill - 4.5" to 5" x 34.25" in a rectangal shape. It will be more in keeping with the lines of the vessel. Vetus make ss louvered oval vents however they would be the only oval item on the sie of the boat. The standard catalog vents are not large enouth.
I would appreciate any input anyone may have. Olddutch
