   70m Catamaran: Directors Shipyard (sail)
   
   Has anyone herd anything about two 70m catamarans being or going to be built at Directors new plant in CT?

   The new yard is only 30 min away from me. I might have to get out my spy camera. As of 4 weeks ago when I last drove by the yard, there were a few commercial ferry boats and one VERY large (un rigged) sailing yacht. There might be something inside though

   Fast Ferries
   
   Derecktor Shipyards Bridgeport, CT has completed to date one fast ferry for the Alaska ferry system, and I belive more are on the way.

   38 knots carrying 200 tons!! 42.5 knots light load, just awesome speed for something that big. Congrats to Derecktor Yards.
   
   Atlantic Coast shipbuilding may be the only heavy manufacturing industry left in this country.
