    hi to all, just joined, was wondering if anyone had any info on switching the capitol trans out for twin disc or another brand. i just lost the stbd trans and the marine trans people in fla say it is hard to get parts and the rebuild is very expensive. any info would be a great help. tj

    Why don't you give the builders of the trannies a shot directly and see what they say.

    Changing one Gearbox for another and then having two different brands will not be simple.

    I just had the port tranny in my 42 let go. Same problem, although I've been able to find at least 3 good used trannys...

    The yellow publication "Boats and Harbors" has classifieds for used/rebuilt trannies.
